Jacob & Co. Astronomia Fleurs de Jardin Rainbow

Long considered a beacon of hope as the sun returns after a storm, the rainbow is the inspiration for Astronomia Fleurs de Jardin Rainbow – Jacob & Co.'s interpretation of a verdant garden after the rain. Launched last year, Fleurs de Jardin aims to technically redefine the ultra-feminine watch. By combining the craftsmanship and technology of Astronomia and Astronomia Solar, the Astronomia Fleurs de Jardin becomes the brand's first haute complication watch exclusively for women.

The challenge for Fleurs de Jardin Rainbow is sourcing and selecting gemstones of the correct color and cutting to create the rainbow. The transition between one color to another is also a major consideration. After rigorous craftsmanship, the Rainbow 42.5mm 18k rose gold bezel is set with 40 rainbow sapphires (about 3.7ct), and the inner ring is set with 48 rainbow sapphires (about 1.31ct). To evoke a lush garden full of life, the movement is topped with a gleaming green 288-facet Jacob-cut tsavorite, while the frame with 11 flowers and kite-shaped multicolored sapphires Rotate clockwise around the dial once for 10 minutes.

The flying tourbillon and time display also rotate clockwise in 10-minute increments, while the mother-of-pearl base set with 46 iridescent sapphire flowers (approximately 1.05 carats) rotates counterclockwise in 10-minute increments for further intrigue. To breathe life into the garden, the Vertical Astronomical Biaxial Butterfly Flying Tourbillon is a hand-wound JCAM31 caliber with a 48-hour power reserve. It rotates clockwise around the central axis in one revolution of 10 minutes, and the patented differential gear system keeps the time display at the 12/6 o'clock position regardless of the position of the rotation. In addition, the cage of the flying tourbillon makes one revolution every 60 seconds.

While legibility remains excellent, the Astronomia Fleurs de Jardin Rainbow seems designed to lure an admirer into surrendering to the artistry and serenity of the watch, and ultimately forgetting time.
